Meal Time

Flame Tree Barbecue offers a quiet alternative from the hustle and bustle of the typical theme park environment. The seating area is broken up into small isolated sections, with some offering beautiful views of Discovery River and Expedition Everest. The theme of the restaurant is a somewhat morbid one - that of the predator/prey relationship. But each area takes on a unique approach to that overarching theme and explores different groups of animals enjoying or, unfortunately, being lunch.

I'm not at all squeamish about where my food came from, but I always thought that the decor in the seating area of Flame Tree bordered on extreme bad taste. Given the fact that we don't even see animals devouring each other elsewhere in the park, a fact of life that's pretty absent from an otherwise very cycle of life minutia fixated environment, I guess it had to be somewhere but in a food court is a little much, boys. We could have men in rain slickers cleaning and gutting live fish in the Columbia Harbour House. It'd be theme and time period appropriate but no more of a good idea.

Thanks for introducing me to this place! Even though I was a little sore for a few days afterwards...

Foxx--not sure if I can handle that imagery! ;)

Oh my gosh - I never noticed that at all - it is kind of creepy, isn't it? I've been there a few times and really enjoyed it - but never even noticed the morbid imagery :) Great post!
