Wired

These gorgeous baskets are found near the restrooms and telephones outside Jiko and Boma at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. Handcrafted from old telephone wire, these creations are a beautiful tradition in South Africa, linking the past with a more modern weaving material. With their bold colors and intricate designs, the baskets move away from functional items and become artwork for the walls. The Lodge is full of museum-quality pieces direct from Africa, and these baskets are no exception.

These baskets are one of my favorite pieces in all of AKL. I always make sure to get to Boma a little early so I have some time to marvel at them. Thanks for sharing!
