When Big Thunder was abandoned, work on the mine shafts was still in full swing, as evidenced by these dynamite sticks left in the rocks.
A waiting supply on dynamite sticks is also within easy reach on the floor nearby.
Another great find in this area is a crate bearing the Tri-Circle-D ranch insignia. Apparently the miners at Big Thunder Mountain are also patrons of Fort Wilderness.

What a delight to discover your blog today! Thank you for everything you're doing here; I look forward to dropping in regularly. Hurray for WDW and its richness of detail....
You didn't try to light one of those, did you?
Great catch on the crate, too!
My favorite thing in the BTM load area is the little caged, stuffed canary up in the corner near the stuff you've photographed there. Sometimes you can also hear digging on the other side of that wall.
