Wired

These gorgeous baskets are found near the restrooms and telephones outside Jiko and Boma at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. Handcrafted from old telephone wire, these creations are a beautiful tradition in South Africa, linking the past with a more modern weaving material. With their bold colors and intricate designs, the baskets move away from functional items and become artwork for the walls. The Lodge is full of museum-quality pieces direct from Africa, and these baskets are no exception.

A Hidden Gem

Tucked in the entrance way to Pleasure Island's Comedy Warehouse is this beloved relic from the past - the original Magic Journeys sign from Journey Into Imagination.

This nearby plaque recalls the original use of this building as part of Pleasure Island's history - noting that once the Walt Disney Company "took over" the building, it became a warehouse for all sorts of items, including pieces from "aging attractions."

Little Ride Lost

Although in this case, the portal to the new dimension is against a brick wall in a service corridor and not under a child's bed, the markings are unmistakeably clear.

Light on the Water

The Yacht and Beach Club's outdoor lighting features four distinct styles in close proximity to one another. Yet the nautical theme is prevalent throughout, and the different light fixtures work harmoniously with one another to help set the scene.

Jot It Down

Hidden in a store window within a back corner of the China pavilion, this little cricket takes down a note in his nicely furnished birdcage. Perhaps a subtle tribute to Cri-Kee, the tiny typist in Mulan - but it is a wonderful detail nonetheless.
