Vero Beach sits in Indian River County, so named for the lagoon that runs through it. The area is world famous for its citrus which makes up a large share of the industry. Disney's Vero Beach Resort embraces the history of the surrounding area, and locally-inspired details can be found in almost every corner of the property. Even the tables in the lobby are created to look like citrus packing crates, printed with the Indian River name. As many of the local citrus growers donated material for Disney to use, the Orchid label is most likely the Orchid Island Growers Inc. company, which is located in Wabasso.
While Disney's Vero Beach Resort might lie a couple hours away from Walt Disney World, it's nice to see it has those familiar Disney touches, even down to those wonderful trash cans.
This framed photo found in the Germany pavilion shows Franz Goebel and Walt Disney posing with a Goofy figurine back in 1955, less than three decades prior to the opening of Epcot's own Germany pavilion.
Along the Walt Disney World Railroad tracks heading into Frontierland, you'll find this Outpost 792 - Desperation.
These gorgeous baskets are found near the restrooms and telephones outside Jiko and Boma at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. Handcrafted from old telephone wire, these creations are a beautiful tradition in South Africa, linking the past with a more modern weaving material. With their bold colors and intricate designs, the baskets move away from functional items and become artwork for the walls. The Lodge is full of museum-quality pieces direct from Africa, and these baskets are no exception.
This pattern in the concrete near the entrance plaza to Muppet*Vision 3D takes on the appearance of a famous frill from that green frog we all know and love.
